INEOS Tour de France Fundraiser

Kiran's Trust, was gifted a donation from the Tour de France cyclists of INEOS FPS' Team Nominated by our Director, Meredith Short, who is also an Ops Specialist at Kinneil. Meredith thanked the team and said, 'The Tour de France funds donated this year will go to our support of the Scottish Young Carers Festival (Carers Trust Scotland). The festival is attended by over 500 young carers from 39 local carer services. It provides an opportunity for carers to take a well-earned break, spend time with their friends, share experiences, and most importantly have some fun! This past year, Kiran's Trust was excited to give young carers (at their request) a chance to channel their creativity in cake decorating and get some mentoring through break-out sessions.

Supporting Linlithgow Flyers Netball Club

We are helping the Linlithgow Flyers Netball Club (Under 17s) to go to the Paris Championships Easter 2025.   Kirsty Martin responded:   We would like to say a huge thank you to Kiran's Trust who read our article in the Black Bitch Magazine and have donated £500 towards our U17s Paris trip funds.   The Trust support creative expression in young people and participation in sporting activity and leadership. Thank you! Some of the girls have begun their sponsored ‘Run to Paris’ which they are completing throughout September. In the first week alone they had already collectively completed 19% of the 715 miles from here to Paris by running or walking.  If you’d like to support the teams they have a go fund me page you can donate to at: https://gofund.me/87754e22

Carers Trust Summer Festival 2024

Once again we were very proud to support the Young Carers Summer Festival this year.  The planning for this festival starts as early as January and February each year.  Young Carers themselves are involved in focus groups to decide how the activities at the two and half day festival will unfold.   Here is some feedback from Zoe Tautz-Davis, Fundraising Manager - Scotland It is my pleasure to be in touch to thank you all at Kiran's Trust for your longstanding support of the Scottish Young Carers Festival, held earlier this month. On behalf of everyone at Carers Trust Scotland, we are so grateful for the very kind donation to support the Festival again this year. This year we welcomed over 500 young carers from 39 local carer services across Scotland, providing the opportunity for them to have their voices heard by decision makers, spend time with their friends, and most importantly take a meaningful break from caring and have fun. Many young people tell us they find it hard to take time away from their caring responsibilities, and the Festival provides this opportunity, as well as the chance to try new activities from outdoor pursuits to arts and crafts and mindfulness activities.

OUR INSPIRATION

Kiran Martin died at the age of 18 from a brain tumour in 2008. She was one of these very creative, fun loving and magical people you meet every now and then, and she will never be forgotten.

Kiran’s Trust was founded on her 19th birthday, 9th October, in 2009, as way of giving thanks for her life and celebrating the creative arts and sports, which she held dear. The Trust recognises this passion in other young people and provides support to help them advance in further education and participation in these areas.

Kiran’s Trust is registered charity with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator. The directors are members of Kiran’s family and are responsible and accountable for the financial viability of the charity.

SUPPORTING CREATIVE EXPRESSION

Supporting Creative Expression.
Kiran’s Trust provides support to young people through schools and organisations in all aspects of creative expression. Some of this support is in creative art, specifically to introduce ideas, techniques, skills and media which helps students to visually express themselves. Other support is in all the performance arts, providing opportunities for writing, music, drama and dance participation etc. In fact you think it we will support it!

SPORTING ACTIVITY & LEADERSHIP

Our focus on participation in sport comes from Kiran’s involvement in the martial art of Taekwondo. She achieved a Black Belt 3rd Dan with Central Taekwondo Academy, Falkirk. Every year we have a scholarship scheme that supports young taekwondo players pursue their dreams of competing at the highest level at a World level. Our ambassador Jordyn (Jo) Smith a member of GBTaekwondo and is a past Junior World Champion! Jo has her sights firmly fixed on the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.

We are very proud supporters of the Tryst Community Sports Club annual sports awards. We sponsor the Game Changer Award, Coach of the Year and Sports Personality of the Year.
