2024 LHS Sports Awards

What an amazing procession of sports and dance talent rolled past us picking up all manner of awards. The guest speaker was the former tack and field athlete Lynsey Sharp who of course has a major amount of knowledge to share. We have been supporting the Event, the programme and the Junior & Senior Sports Personality of the Year for a number of years now...which is an absolute pleasure and joy!! Well done to everyone involved in developing the Tryst Community Sports!

Central’s Natasha Continues On Form…

Another terrific result from the National Poomsae Championships in Worcester 14th/15th October. Kiran's Trust supported Natasha Wilson when she was younger until she achieved support from British Taekwondo. Although we no longer have Natasha as a supported athlete we thought you'd be interested to know that continues to collect medals. At the British Championships in Worcester she won the Individual U30F Gold!  This her 12th British title in 10 years ( she won two categories in the past) - an absolutely incredible achievement that all started with you, our supporters! Well done Tasha!!!!

Central Taekwondo Athletes Become British Champions

Fantastic results at the National Poomsae Championships at the weekend in Worcester. 14/15th October with Central Taekwondo Academy students winning British Titles!! Uraifaan Nazeerkhan took the Peewee Male K2 Gold, he then went on to pair with his sister Khawlah, and took K2 Pairs British title. Caitlin Ross is Central's first ever Para Poomsae British Champion! These were all massive categories and the Central players really stood out. We know that club are rightly proud of them all! Attached are some pics of our super stars! Peter Sellwood who is also a Central student took Cadet K1 Gold becoming yet another British Champion. We don't support Peter but deserves mention here!!

Kiran Martin died at the age of 18 from a brain tumour in 2008. She was one of these very creative, fun loving and magical people you meet every now and then, and she will never be forgotten.

Kiran’s Trust was founded on her 19th birthday, 9th October, in 2009, as way of giving thanks for her life and celebrating the creative arts and sports, which she held dear. The Trust recognises this passion in other young people and provides support to help them advance in further education and participation in these areas.

Kiran’s Trust is registered charity with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator. The directors are members of Kiran’s family and are responsible and accountable for the financial viability of the charity.

Supporting Creative Expression.
Kiran’s Trust provides support to young people through schools and organisations in all aspects of creative expression. Some of this support is in creative art, specifically to introduce ideas, techniques, skills and media which helps students to visually express themselves. Other support is in all the performance arts, providing opportunities for writing, music, drama and dance participation etc. In fact you think it we will support it!

Our focus on participation in sport comes from Kiran’s involvement in the martial art of Taekwondo. She achieved a Black Belt 3rd Dan with Central Taekwondo Academy, Falkirk. Every year we have a scholarship scheme that supports young taekwondo players pursue their dreams of competing at the highest level at a World level. Our ambassador Jordyn (Jo) Smith a member of GBTaekwondo and is a past Junior World Champion! Jo has her sights firmly fixed on the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.

We are very proud supporters of the Tryst Community Sports Club annual sports awards. We sponsor the Game Changer Award, Coach of the Year and Sports Personality of the Year.
