Jessie Kidd’s ‘GLASGOW’ 2021

Jessie Kidd
5th Dec 2002- 2 August 2021

Jessie Kidd was an exceptionally creative Larbert High School student whose passion for Photography, Music, Art and all things creative, radiated throughout her school years.

Jessie created beautifully composed photographs that were always highly proficient in terms of technique. Her talent lay in her ability to create beautifully composed landscape photographs that conveyed a sense of drama. Her photographs taken during the higher photography course in response to the theme ‘ Glasgow’ showcased this talent for coupling compositional understanding with aesthetically strong images.

At advanced higher level, Jessie progressed further by showing a flair for editing. In her series of photographs of the V & A Dundee, Jessie showed her ability to sensitively edit an image through the use of inversions to create sophisticated outcomes. These images were presented in the form of video art and glass sculpture in a final showcase that would warrant a place in any contemporary art exhibition. All of her body of work is so beautifully captured, and professional to a T!

Jessie was a wonderful, kind hearted young lady who touched the hearts of all who met her – she was someone special!

Her legacy lives on in the creation of this gallery dedicated to Jessie. Also The annual Kiran Martin Photography Award will now be known as The Jessie Kidd Photography Award – presented by Kiran’s Trust.
